One supplement for tinnitus getting a lot of attention is magnesium.  This natural element in our bodies works to relax muscles and is important in enzyme function.  It is thought to be important for inner ear health and blood pressure.

I have used magnesium supplementation on and off for the two years that I have had tinnitus.  I can't say that it has worked to any significant level, but if I keep it up over time it does seem to help a little bit.  That is the problem for me: I just don't seem able to stick to it for more than a month or so at a time.  With it not helping much, there is little incentive to keep remembering to take it.  However, long-term use of probably needed for optimal benefit.

What have been your experiences using magnesium to help with your tinnitus?

I've been taking a magnesium/calcium combo for quite some time. I don't find it's helped at all that I can tell.

Magnesium is a mineral that helps with muscle relaxation.  This is why Epsom Salts are good for soaking sore muscles.  It stands to reason that taking magnesium might help with muscle tension and therefore reduce tinnitus if muscle tension is a factor.  Magnesium is also important for nerve function.  As always, check with a doctor or pharmacist about this supplement as it might interfere with your medications or be relevant to your other conditions.
