When I first got tinnitus, I was able to get off of caffeine completely.  After a couple of years, I have fallen off the wagon so to speak and now drink some half decaf/half regular coffee in the morning.  Being tired a lot, it really helps to get some caffeine.  However, my tinnitus level definitely does increase with caffeine use.  I may have to stop again and the increased tinnitus does bother me sometimes.  I wonder why caffeine increases tinnitus.  Anyone know?

There's a study about this that's just been completed. They are putting together the results and I'm on the mailing list. As soon as I get them, I'll post the salient points (if any).

If I had to guess, I'd say a cup or two probably doesn't do much but it might vary depending on the person. Who knows.

Please do post the information that you get on this study.  I would like to hear about what it finds.  Thanks.

Even small amounts of coffee send my tinnitus screaming.  I have cut myself off of caffeine except for a small amount in the morning.  Whenever I rarely drink something or eat something with caffeine because I am tired, it sends my tinnitus way higher.
